A fitting career move for Mark as he opens his own showroom
2nd October 2017
HAVING spent more than a quarter of a century fitting kitchens, bedrooms and home offices, Mark Gilbert has opened his own showroom.
Building on his knowledge from his time on the tools, and encouraged by clients, he has launched Bespoke Cabinets Lincolnshire Ltd in King Edward Street, Grimsby.
“I have always been a sole trader, and have spent 26 years fitting kitchens and bathrooms,” he said. “Over the past 10 years I have sourced and sold kitchens and bathrooms using manufacturers I am now stocking, but it was on an individual basis, when clients came to me. This takes it to a new scale, and I’m looking forward to building it up.”
Confident he can suit all budgets, he is looking at work from social housing to executive appointments, relying in a close team of trade-accredited sub-contractors to aid design and installation. Together they have more than 100 years of experience.
Mr Gilbert is also looking into taking on an apprentice fitter / joiner, to further grow the fledgling business, where he has completely fitted out a showroom from scratch.
Having fitted for neighbouring business Office Friends, he is now sharing a warehouse with them, and also enjoys the benefits of a workshop on site. “We have a strong relationship, and it was the directors there that really encouraged me to have a go,” he said.
