A magic treat for visitors to new Mediterranean restaurant in Cleethorpes

The newly-opened Bocado restaurant in Market Street has received five-star ratings from customers.

However, aside from serving up delicious continental cuisine, manager Murat Kusen has a few other tricks up his sleeve.

He is a member of The Magic Circle and entertains customers with his quick hands and flair for magic.

He has taken on six new staff to provide a new choice for visitors to the resort.

He formerly worked at Louth’s Istanbul restaurant, as well as restaurants in Manchester, London and Edinburgh.

The name “bocado” means a bite to eat.

It has replaced the former Chino Chino restaurant in the heart of Cleethorpes and serves up a unique range of Turkish and Mediterranean dishes.

The 40-seater downstairs restaurant will soon have a further 40 covers upstairs.

Customers have been quick to register their five-star approval.

Murat said: “It is something different and something fresh for Cleethorpes. I want it to be different from everyone else and provide the best food and best service.

“There is absolutely nothing frozen in my kitchen. It is all fresh.”

The restaurant walls are adorned with classic photographs of Hollywood stars, including Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren.

There are many photos of stars of British TV, including Murat’s favourite of Del Boy, Rodney and Uncle Albert from Only Fools and Horses.

Murat said he will be sharing his tales of working with top magicians, including Paul Daniels, when he hosts a monthly charity evening when he will invite disabled groups to his restaurant for a free show and refreshments.

He is currently making contact with disabled groups in North East Lincolnshire.

One customer posted a message on the restaurant’s Facebook page saying: “We expected it to be bog-standard. How wrong could we have been? We enjoyed the complimentary mixed olives and rosemary. The lamb shank and rib-eye steak were both cooked perfectly.”

The customers said they will definitely be visiting again.

Another posted: “I can’t praise it enough. The staff, food and presentation were all fantastic. It was the best meal we have had for a long time.”
