Apprenticeship Levy: Understand fundamental changes at breakfast event
13th March 2017
BUSINESSES from across the region are invited to learn more about the Apprenticeship Levy which comes into affect in a matter of weeks.
Grimsby Institute will host a Business Breakfast on Wednesday (March 8), with the education and training provider’s business and learner engagement team on hand to offer employers advice and guidance on the latest developments.
Taking place between 7.30am and 9am at the Corner Lounge, University Centre Grimsby, the informal session will allow for questions about provision and opportunities to be fielded.
By 2020, the Government aims to fund three million apprenticeships for small and medium sized businesses, which will change the way in which apprenticeships are designed, delivered, assessed, funded and paid for.
Through what is described as a new tax, companies with payrolls above £3 million will pay a percentage of that to support future skills provision.
While controversial in nature, especially for sectors already contributing to that agenda through industry bodies, it does provide access to a more bespoke experience, with organisations able to control how they spend the money on training staff should they recruit.
Those pushing the Government Trailblazer reforms say the changes will give employers better control on duration, training and assessment to get the perfect outcome for their business.
