TWO Cleethorpes brothers have won an international award for their work on children's fun, educational apps.

Paul and Mike Kidd, the team behind IbbleObble, won Creativepool's Best Website Design 2017.

The annual ceremony recognises agencies, individuals and multi-national companies' excellence.

Paul, who freelances from the resort, initially used his Creativepool membership as a platform to gain work, but soon realised it was "much more than that".

It has given him the chance to showcase his design ability worldwide and says it has allowed him to "connect with some truly great people who do great work."

The pair worked hard in preparation for the judging, making several modifications to the website when applying, adding a blog to help "increase exposure".

They also made their site mobile friendly and more responsive.

Of the win, at Protein Studios, Shoreditch, Paul said "I don't think I could even explain how happy that made me!

"My excitement really did take over as the rest was a blur, it was something I could only have dreamed of."

The brothers created the apps to entertain children while enhancing their learning. One of the apps, Words with IbbleObble, teaches children new words and vocabulary in a way that captures their attention in their tech-hungry generation.

They were inspired by their own family. Paul said: "We have nephews and nieces ourselves and we knew how much they absorb information from the iPad.

"We realised they were fascinated from such an early age, it was amazing what they got from it."

The brothers have seen a huge response for their creation since its launch in August with eight different apps being released and downloaded in the tens of thousands.

"Each app has unique characters to help the children engage and have fun while learning at the same time."

Paul, who is based in Cleethorpes, had worked around the region as a creative designer prior to this role, while Mike worked for MTV in London.

Paul says that his brother's background as an app developer and his own background in development, branding and design has helped them "complement each other" and that's why they have been able to do this in a "short space of time".

The IbbleObble team have had a range of success over the years. In 2016 they were awarded a People's Choice Award for their Educational Children's app, but now they can celebrate their "best website design" too.
