Employees at ENGIE voted to donate the huge chunk of cash to the Pink Rose Fund, which is run by the hospital's official charity, The Health Foundation, after it was selected to be the company's charity of the year for 2016.

Staff had an action packed year taking part in various money-spinning events including dress down days, raffles, sports matches and even guessing the weight of a pumpkin.

The company also challenged staff from North East Lincolnshire Council to a fundraising game of football in which the council came out top.

The Pink Rose Fund supports a dedicated breast unit at Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, that goes by the same name.

It provides a breast imaging and diagnostic service with follow up imaging for patients, to aid the work of surgical teams across the Trust.

Heath Tree Foundation (HTF) community champion, Lauren Alexander, said: "It's lovely to hear that everyone at ENGIE really got the bug for fundraising.

"They select a national and local charity each year, which is a really good idea. We are extremely grateful for their support."

Helen Lindley, advanced nurse practitioner from the Pink Rose Suite, said: "All of the staff were delighted to have been selected as ENGIE's charity of the year. We really appreciate their fundraising efforts."

ENGIE account director Marcus Asquith said: "The staff did a great job of raising money for this local cause, which was close to the heart of several people working in our offices in North East Lincolnshire.

"We held a number of fun activities for everyone to get involved with."

ENGIE is one of the world's leading energy and service providers, delivering energy services, business processes, facilities management and technical services across 70 countries.
