First look at what new housing estate on Birds Eye site will look like
23rd February 2017
Work has now begun at one of the largest new housing estates in Grimsby.
Clee Meadows, on Ladysmith Road, will bring 180 new houses and 80 new apartments to the site of the former Birds Eye factory, which developers hope will completely transform what has become one of the largest urban wastelands in North East Lincolnshire.
Crofts Estate Agents have been given full advertising control over the development.
Construction of the site is to be phased over the course of four years, with two and three bedroom properties being built across an 11 acre site.
Advantage Home Builders Construction Insurance, have been appointed as the provider of a full warranty, insuring the site throughout the build phase.
The appointment of a warranty provider is a key stage in any development, as it signifies the commencement of work.
Ming Yeung, Managing Director of Clee Meadows, who is originally from Grimsby himself commented: "It's great to see work finally begin at this site which will create a large number of affordable homes for local people. The site has been dormant for many years and has been left in a state of decay. Now through this development we are set to create a fantastic legacy that will impact positively on local communities for many years to come."
"We're pleased to have appointed Advantage to manage the warranty. We have collaborated with them on various schemes in the past and have found them to be our preferred provider, delivering a first class service."
David Sumner, Sales Director of Advantage added: "Clee Meadows is a fantastic scheme that will change the entire housing landscape in Grimsby. We're of course delighted to be working with Ming and his team once again and will shortly begin our regular site inspections, supporting the professional team across the four year period."
The new housing estate will offer a varied collection of homes each with bespoke kitchens and appliances, with all homes coming with eco-friendly log burners as standard.
Prices for the two bedroom homes are to begin at £109,950, and the three bedroom homes at £135,000, and there is a help to buy scheme in place to aid any buyers, that will lend £27,000 for a deposit as long as the buyer can provide £6750 themselves.
