First look inside new Cleethorpes Starbucks - promising delight for coffee and cake lovers
24th October 2017
Premium coffee, delicious cake and "service with a smile" have all been promised as Starbucks officially opens in Cleethorpes.
Ending a four year absence in North East Lincolnshire for the ever-popular American coffee chain, Starbucks is opening to coffee lovers in Cleethorpes today.
Friends and family of staff members and local business workers were invited for a VIP look inside the store for a soft opening yesterday afternoon, as a shiny new decor, comfortable dining area and relaxing atmosphere was put on show.
And customers will be able to get their hands on drinks like the iconic pumpkin-spiced latté, iced teas and fruit coolers, when the store opens at 7.30am.
It will be open seven days a week, from 7.30am till 8pm Monday to Saturday and 8am till 6pm on Sundays.
It comes after several months of work to transform the former The Point Cafe into the fresh and airy new coffee shop.
Featuring comfy chairs and outdoor seating, where customers can enjoy all of the usual Starbucks favourites, Starbucks was revealed as the newest chain to open in Cleethorpes in June.
And the excitement has only snowballed since that announcement was made, according to store manager, Sarah Maforimbo.
From Hull, Sarah has worked for Starbucks for eight years and says her team of ten baristas are "raring to go" ahead of the grand opening.
She said: "It has been a long time coming for us in Cleethorpes. Everyone here is really lovely and we want it to be a place where people can come and relax and be comfortable.
"People will be greeted with a warm and friendly face and great coffee.
"We can't wait to get started. For me it's about making sure the team are happy but it is all about the customers.
"We promise to give a smile and a warm welcome."
District manager for Starbucks, Tony Meredith, revealed how ever since the Freshney Place branch closed four years ago, the company has actively been looking for the "right location" to bring Starbucks back to the area.
The new Cleethorpes venue, which is next to Magical Castle, and close to fast food outlets such as McDonald’s, KFC, Subway and Taco Bell will be operated in partnership with Soul Coffee.
One of the first to put the new cafe's coffee to the test was Kathie Roberts, sales and marketing manager for the nearby Magical Castle and Burn Fitness gym.
She said: "It's a lovely store with a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Our customers will be banging the door down to get their coffee fix after being in the gym tomorrow morning.
"I am a coffee fanatic and it will be nice to be able to get out of the office for five minutes to fill up on coffee and cake."
Ruth Ciuffetelli, an ex-colleague of store manager Sarah's, was among the VIP guests and said: "I think it looks fantastic and I think it will do brilliantly well, especially with Sarah in charge.
"She lives and breathes Starbucks and is a larger than life character.
"It's a great location to have a Starbucks. When you think about coffee it is the first name that comes to mind."
Katie Good, group exercise instructor at Burn Fitness, added: "It's a nice atmosphere, the staff are friendly and it's really pleasant.
"I have been looking forward to it opening for a long time. I can't wait to be able to have a nice coffee every day."
