Footfall boost as Freshney Place welcomes online shopping service CollectPlus to town
5th December 2017
A NEW service aimed at making online shopping more convenient, while retaining vital footfall in to the town centre, is expected to prove popular at Grimsby’s Freshney Place Shopping Centre.
CollectPlus has opened a unit on Baxtergate, near the customer services desk from where it will be operated, providing a convenient way to collect online orders and return unwanted items.
Amanda Austin, centre director at Freshney Place, said the response to the launch had been overwhelmingly positive.
“We have a fantastic range of stores within the centre but we also know that for some, their busy lifestyles make opportunities to hit the shops few and far between,” she said. “We really pride ourselves on our customer service, and so have teamed up with CollectPlus to offer a convenient way for shoppers to collect and return their online purchases, in turn making their lives easier.”
The new CollectPlus service links to more than 350 retailers, as well as parcel delivery to any UK address.
“We researched what new services our customers would find helpful, and are delighted that the CollectPlus service has been so well received,” Mrs Austin said. “It really complements what we already offer here. It gives our shoppers access to brands that aren’t currently in the centre and also gives some of the businesses here an economic way of distributing their parcels nationwide.”
It comes as two new outlets have been welcomed this week, Boot Room and House Of Monica, both winners of the Apprentice Retailer competition held with E-Factor.
Neil Ashworth, chief executive at CollectPlus, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to work with Freshney Place to bring our service to Grimsby and make online shopping more accessible.
“Often staying at home to wait for a delivery just doesn’t fit in with people’s busy lifestyles so having the option to collect their parcels or return unwanted items when they’re already out and about is a lot more convenient. Our service has been tailored to suit the needs of modern consumers, to whom time is increasingly valuable and efficiency and cost are key.”
