Former Toni and Guy employees band together to open new Grimsby salon

Former employees of the recently axed Toni and Guy branch in Grimsby have banded together to open their own salon in the town centre
New business 8 Hair, in Town Hall Street, opened its doors to customers on January 2 - a few days after the national brand pulled the shutters down in Victoria Street.
The salon is now home to six former employees, who used the closure as an opportunity to open their own business after an average of 15 years in the industry.
Chris 'Ash' Ashworth, senior stylist at 8 Hair, said: "We decided to open up because the lease had expired over at Toni and Guy, and we just thought it was a great opportunity to go solo.
"We have a great client base from over there and great training, and we just wanted to keep as many staff on as possible so nobody went without a job.
"We've all pulled in together to make it happen."
Toni and Guy closed its doors to clients in Grimsby at the end of last year, after 13 years overlooking the Riverhead.
Scott said the transition to the new salon was seamless. "We're a really close team, Ash and I have worked with each other for 15 years alongside Diane who's our manager, we've all been here 15 years plus, and we've all benefited from that Toni and Guy training, which is way above industry standard.
"We pride ourselves on the salon being a really good atmosphere, which is fun to be in, and it was just a great opportunity.
"It's most hairdressers' aspiration to at some point have a place to call your own."
