Freshney Place brings Shopmobility in-house
5th October 2017
SHOPPERS who use scooters and wheelchairs at Freshney Place will soon benefit from new equipment after the centre brought the service in-house.
Users have been assured that membership to the Shopmobility scheme, hire fees and contact details will remain the same.
Amanda Austin, centre director, said it was part of a continuous programme of improving services for customers.
“From October 1, we will be offering a selection of brand-new equipment to members, including standard and bariatric (obesity) wheelchairs as well as standard and extra-manoeuvrable ‘twin’ scooters,” she said. “However, we want to reassure all of our customers that the change will have no impact on their routines, and the booking system will remain completely unchanged.”
She said the move was part of a drive to ensure best value for money to shoppers.
“As before, the service will be delivered from our in-centre customer service desk on Baxtergate Mall, and will operate on the same telephone number in exactly the same way,” she said. “With the new equipment as part of the scheme, there will now be a greater choice of type of wheelchair and scooter, as we look to give our customers the best service.”
