Grimsby beauty salon hoping to bring ‘a touch of Ragdale Hall’ to town
15th May 2017
"I'VE always wanted to bring a little bit of Ragdale Hall to Grimsby."
Those are the words of Elaine Bass, owner of The Retreat, after the popular beauty salon completed the move to new premises.
Now based on Cleethorpe Road, the revamped studio has been eight weeks in the making.
Elaine, 53, and her husband Michael, 52, took over the business 15 months ago – and it's hoped the move to the building owned by John Barkers Solicitors will develop their reputation in the area.
Elaine said: "I think we had outgrown our last studio.
"Moving here gives us a much better platform to grow the business. We are now in control of our own destiny.
"I've always wanted to bring a little bit of Ragdale Hall to Grimsby, and now we can."
On the reasons behind the move, Elaine added: "I would often talk to people in the town, and when I talked to them about The Retreat, they would ask what we do and who we are.
"For a business that has been running since 1986, that wasn't good enough for me.
"We have put in so much hard work to make this happen. We now have our own shop front, and we can start to build our own identity."
Before the big move, the studio was based upstairs at Oasis Health Club, on Orwell Street, having been established as the Body Studio in 1986.
In their new premises, The Retreat boast three treatment rooms, with five dedicated beauty team members, including manager Louise Bass, 21, daughter of Elaine.
She said: "We have always had a vision for the salon, and with the move we are able to offer plenty of new treatments.
"Like my mum said, we are in control now. Our opening times will also be flexible, which will please our customers, especially around busy times of the year.
"It's all very exciting and we are looking forward to what the future has in store."
Aside from continuing to offer their trademark treatments, The Retreat have put together a string of packages, suitable for birthdays, hen parties, baby showers, bridal parties and more.
They will also host an opening party on Thursday, June 8 (6pm until late), with goodie bags, raffle prizes and champagne on offer, as well as special discounts to mark the start of a new era.
