The self-styled Lincolnshire Chef, who has propelled Laceby's Oaklands Hall Hotel up the food stakes with the Comfy Duck restaurant, has been selected to appear at the Great Food and Drink Festival at Lincoln Castle in September.

A third chef on the bill is Michael Cains.

Mr Bennett, who is no stranger to a live performance on a local basis, having hosted the Telegraph's Live Local Lincolnshire Food and Drink Festival last year, said: "We were approached recently and we said we would be more than willing to do it to showcase Lincolnshire, our products and what we are about.

"I am looking forward to it, I've never met John, it will feel like MasterChef: The Professionals! I'll have to see if I can impress!

"It is great that an event like this is coming to Lincolnshire, to appreciate what we have locally, and to get us on the map."

The event takes place on September 16 and September 17, with more than 100 food stalls to be located in the grounds.

Both John and Steven will give demonstrations on the Saturday, with Michael showing his skills on the Sunday.

He has earned two Michelin stars for Gidleigh Park in Dartmoor National Park, where he was at the helm for 21 years, receiving an MBE in 2006 for services to the hospitality industry.
