New solicitor welcomed to Grimsby firm

Ian Durant has joined Michael Culshaw & Co's specialist criminal defence and road traffic offences team.

He is a solicitor with higher rights of audience, meaning that he can represent defendants at magistrates' courts as well as at higher courts, such as Grimsby Crown Court. Mr Durant is already well known as a defence solicitor in the Grimsby area, having acted for many clients over the years, including cases ranging from murder to prosecutions under the Education Act and benefit fraud allegations.

He also has expertise in acting for taxi drivers regarding appeals against licence revocation, both at committee level and at court.

Mr Durant, who was born in Thorne, said: "I am very pleased to join a dedicated team of skilled professionals, who genuinely care about their clients, and to be part of an experienced criminal department."

The Michael Culshaw & Co firm is now managed by solicitors Saleem Khan and Andrea Wilkes.

Miss Wilkes said: "We are delighted to welcome Ian, who joined us on January 2.

"He brings experience, dedication and an ability to think outside the box.

"Ian will mainly be found in the magistrates' court. However, he has the ability and qualifications to see a case through from the police station all the way to the Court of Appeal if necessary."
