New three-day festive celebration is coming to Cleethorpes this Christmas
14th November 2017
A festive extravaganza will see Christmas burst into life in Cleethorpes with three days of family fun and shopping treats.
The seasonal event, which is due to take place in the heart of the resort, will see a whole host of attractions and market stalls fill Pier Gardens and Sea View Street over three days from Friday, December 15 to Sunday December 17.
The event, which will encompass the traditional Christmas market, replaces previous festive events that have attracted thousands of people into the resort.
Organisers from Event Show Support CIC believe it will be a huge success and promote local businesses and attractions.
“Our aim is to bring a festive spirit to the resort - to engage and embrace this unique town, and contribute to a thriving economy. Cleethorpes at Christmas will offer something for everyone," a spokesperson said.
“We hope to attract both local people and those from further afield - those who have not been to Cleethorpes in recent years will be surprised by the changes.”
The Sea View Street Traders’ Association is also supporting the event. Association spokesperson Anna Darnell, who runs Abode, said Cleethorpes at Christmas festival stalls were popular, with only a handful of spaces now left.
"We have had the Christmas market for three or four years now and so linking up with this event to make this a bigger and better attraction seemed perfect,” she said.
“We only have a few more spots left now in Sea View Street, for anyone who wants to sell anything seasonal - but there are more available in the Pier Gardens. We are all looking forward to the event."
This is the event’s first year and organisers are seeking business sponsorship to bolster the attractions for 2017, with the aim of building upon its success in the years to come.
Sponsors will get Christmas trees with their names on them, which will decorate the whole area, with lots of packages to suit all types of business. Other non-profit-making organisations, including Blaze Youth Music Theatre, have already pledged their support.
Extra income to help support the event will also be gained from a nominal entrance charge to the special attraction areas, with wristbands handed out.
Those wearing wristbands, which are available on entry, will be entitled to a number of discounts and offers throughout the resort. Adult bands are £1 with children under 13, 50p.
Cleethorpes at Christmas opening times will be Friday December 15 and Saturday December 16, from 10am until 8pm and Sunday, December 17 from 10am until 6pm.
