Support is sought for ‘Hidden’ World of Wind

GRIMSBY’S role at the heart of the offshore wind industry is to be showcased to school-leavers and job seekers at a special event next month.

Support is sought for ‘Hidden’ World of Wind

While the billions invested and hundreds of jobs created have been championed in the Grimsby Telegraph, there is still a feeling that while we are at the forefront of a pioneering new industry, the community at large lacks knowledge of how to access it, while  only being aware of a tiny fraction of the roles available.

In a bid to address this, The Hidden World of Wind Skills Showcase is being planned for Thursday, August 24, between 2pm and 6.30pm, at Cleethorpes Memorial Hall.

Coinciding with GCSE results day, it will run alongside an established careers fair led by Job Centre Plus, having previously attracted more than 1,000 workplace entrants and experienced professionals looking for a career change.

The team will work closely with schools to encourage careers teachers to attend, to broaden the industry knowledge of these key influencers.

Organisers are now looking for companies to provide displays and information about what they do, and case study roles, as well as volunteers to speak about the industry, and host stands.
