Small Business Saturday UK
Now in its fifth year in the UK, Small Business Saturday was introduced to encourage spending with small, independent firms especially in the run up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday which predominantly benefit larger stores in the run up to Christmas.
Last year saw £717 million spent with small businesses across the UK, up 15% on the previous year. The campaign trended at number one in the UK on Twitter on the day with more than 130,000 campaign-related tweets being sent, reaching over 140 million people globally.
This year, Small Business Saturday UK takes place on Saturday 2nd December and once again North East Lincolnshire Council will be supporting the campaign with free parking in all council-operated car parks with the exception of Garden Street, Grimsby and Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.

Do you know that 97% of businesses in North East Lincolnshire are classed as small enterprises (having less than 50 employees)?
Supporting small local businesses is something that we encourage throughout the year, so please continue to lend your support to this campaign by having a rethink about where to buy goods and services. By just spending some of your weekly shopping budget with a local business can make a huge impact on the local economy and on that small business.
