North East Lincolnshire is the closest location to the existing and planned wind farms in the Southern North Sea.

Grimsby is home of operations and maintenance for the offshore wind industry on the east coast, on course to hit 8GW in coming years. Support for this new and exciting industry has grown up from a strong maritime heritage in the area. Investments in offshore wind began with construction of the Lynn and Inner Dowsing windfarms in 2008 and the area continues to grow as further projects are developed. Eon, innogy and Ørsted as owner / operators and Siemens Gamesa and MHI Vesttas as OEMs have committed to a long term future at the Port of Grimsby, driving a supply chain of major manufacturers and component suppliers, support services and vessels.

The Grimsby Renewables Partnership was established by a group of local businesses which anticipated the arrival of the offshore wind market.  By gathering together, the area has had a stronger voice for attracting new investment and providing new opportunities in the supply chain for local business.  Today the Partnership has around 100 local businesses registered, growing month on month, regularly attending events for just this purpose.

GRP works with regional, national and international networks to establish our position in the industry and is now working with the most renowned names in power generation.
