Business green energy revolution continues with Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire

A multi-million pound project to help businesses save money with greener energy use is holding a second series of events due to popular demand.

Business green energy revolution continues with Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire

Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire successfully organised a number of breakfast meetings earlier this summer to explain how the project could benefit companies from a range of sectors.

Now three new dates have been arranged where people can find out how they could receive grants or get free advice to help them improve their energy efficiency.

Helen Norris, Programme Manager for Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire, said: “Our breakfast events to launch the project were really popular as they gave businesses the chance to see how better energy use can be better for the planet and their pocket.

“We have therefore decided to organise a second round of events in the same format, which will also be open to all small to medium sized businesses, whether they are a hotel, an office or a factory.

“The atmosphere will be welcoming and informal and there will be the opportunity for businesses to complete a quick application to take part in Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire while they are there.”

The project is open to businesses with fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than £50m in the Greater Lincolnshire area.

Businesses in rented accommodation can also apply, provided the landlord agrees and the tenancy is for at least three years.

The aim is to reduce carbon emissions by supporting businesses to become more energy efficient.

This could be through a grant covering 38 per cent of the cost of measures such as a new boiler or new lighting are available.

A 12-hour energy awareness programme is also available and businesses which complete this will receive a free energy saving gift worth £500.

The £9.2m project is being run across Greater Lincolnshire by North East Lincolnshire Council over the next three years.

The council was awarded £5.4m funding from the European Regional Development Fund to deliver the project, alongside private sector investment.

The next breakfast meetings take place on Tuesday September 25 in Grimsby at Millfields Hotel, Grimsby, on Wednesday September 26 in North Lincolnshire at Wortley House Hotel, and Thursday September 27 in Lincolnshire at The Lincoln Hotel.

The event is free but people wishing to attend are asked to register in advance online at - search 'Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire' or click the links below. A free breakfast and refreshments will be provided.
