THE Bannatyne Group has completed the first phase of its multi-million pound investment in the former Virgin Active health club in Humberston.
The organisation owned by Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne’s company took over the gym in September last year, and has just completed phase one of its investment into the health club costing £750,000.
The new gym floor at Bannatyne Humberston now offers members the very latest in fitness with Technogym equipment, TRX, ViPRs and Ankorr equipment to suit all abilities installed.
Health club members can also enjoy a new functional training area.
The centrepiece is the Technogym Omnia Rig, which is designed to maximise members’ interaction allowing multiple users to work together to improve their strength, endurance, stability, flexibility, coordination and speed.
Technology to support members reaching their fitness goals has been fitted including smartphone-connected equipment, which allows members to track their progress through the Bannatyne App.
New screens, which connect to Myzone heart rate-monitoring belts, enable members to see in real-time how hard they are pushing themselves. Members will also benefit from the B:360 wristband, which enables them to access the health club facilities, use the lockers, engage with MyWellness and enjoy the simplicity of contactless payment.
A new studio completes the first phase of the investment.
The next stage of the investment programme will see the changing rooms significantly enlarged and upgraded and the development of a brand-new Spa, designed to deliver the latest in luxurious relaxation and wellbeing treatments.
The new and improved fitness areas complement the outdoor facilities, which include tennis courts and a nine-hole golf course.
The club also offers a luxurious pool, sauna and steam room together with a lounge and café bar and a spacious function room, which is perfect for many events, including weddings with the club recently acquiring a wedding licence.
Justin Musgrove, chief executive of the Bannatyne Group, said: “When we acquired the health club we committed to members that we would bring equipment and facilities that are of the highest standard to help them achieve their fitness, health and wellbeing goals more effectively, and we are delivering on this.
“The exciting investment in the gym has greatly improved the health club and the new Spa is essential to support our aim to provide a quality holistic health and wellbeing service.
“Bannatyne Humberston has a great country club atmosphere and the investment and refurbishment has significantly enhanced the facilities without compromising this.”
