Urban Living Housing Zone
North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) were successfully awarded Urban Living Housing Zone status by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). This secures an opportunity to deliver positive change and improved, diverse housing in the Borough. It contributes to growth ambitions for the Borough and delivery of the ambitious Local Plan for Growth.
Housing Zone status means that our Borough can benefit from cheaper borrowing and priority access to expert planning and technical support from the HCA.
The Delivery Partner Portal 3 (DPP3) framework offers developers an opportunity to work with public bodies, including NELC to form meaningful partnerships over longer durations to take this transformative journey together, all with HCA support.
DPP3 provides for partnerships that can deliver new-build homes on public sector land – in this case with a focus on urban and brownfield sites, ranging from open market properties for sale, affordable housing including starter homes for rent, extra care housing. The partnership will be a sustainable one, delivering the homes we need in the Borough but also significant value through construction training, learning, apprenticeship provision and strengthened local supply chain.
Sites that can enable delivery of these ambitions have been identified. NELC’s Regeneration Partner, ENGIE, will deliver this activity end to end.
